Weekend Adventures

Last weekend we had a horrible, no good, very bad day on Saturday leaving us all exhausted and with little left to give at the end of the night.  We went to the city and everything on our list to do failed completely, it was cold and rainy, and nothing seemed to go our way.  You were without a nap and in much need of sleep, and Dad and I were both tired from staying up too late as we usually do and quickly regret come Saturday morning!  We went to bed that night feeling defeated, and when Sunday morning came we delighted in the blessing of a new day.

The day started off late due to sleeping in past nine, leading to the decision to stay home from church.  It was a beautiful day outside and I refused to waste it moping around in the wake of the failures of the day before.  Dad remembered hearing about a small palace out towards Lyon built by a postman over a period of 33 years.  After looking into it, we decided to hop in the car and go check it out for ourselves.  It was in a quaint little country town surrounded by trails for walking, a park for you to play on, and a little family owned bar with mediocre, overpriced food that we of course had to try.  It was a complete success, from the hour and a half drive both ways to running around the grounds, the day was perfect.  Marcel slept the entire drive both ways, and you happily laid back just enjoying the ride except when the sun was in your eyes.  You hate the sun, and when it hits you in the car you cry out, "oh no! Sun! Sun!"  We find it a bit entertaining, but you don't seem to find it funny in the least.

The past week has been beyond beautiful!  The beauty of living in the valley surrounded by a plethora of mountain ranges is the fact that when we want to see the snow it is as simple as a 30 minute car ride up the mountain without the hassle of having it at our doorstep.  On Saturday that is exactly what we did.  The Sanchez family was up in the Chartreuse in Col de Porte sledding, and we decided to tag along.  We headed up after naps and were able to enjoy the sunshine for a couple hours before it began to hide behind the mountain side.  The hills were packed with little ones enjoying both the warmth and the snow.  You LOVE the snow!  Papa would even throw it in your face, which most kids would have, but not you.  Instead you would throw your head back laughing demanding, "aden, aden!"  We love watching you laugh uncontrollably, and love making you laugh even more.  Thank the Lord for sunshine and happy babies!

For every bad day, we are blessed with many good days!  So thankful for our time together as a family, and our adventures with you and Marcel.

  2. so sorry about the bad day, but you recovered your weekend so well! I love Zay's hat, and how she found herself a little seat in that amazing chateau! and that shot of her and Naia, I see so much of Celia in Naia's smile. Let's not talk about how jealous I am of your weather. Loved this post!
